BHOPAL: Four members of a family committed suicide in Tyaonda village at Ganj Basoda in Vidisha district in the wee hours of Wednesday. Before taking the extreme step all the family members performed pooja inside the house. According to the information, all the four deceased family members were identified as Maharaj Giri, 55, his wife Yashoda, 50, son Sachin, 26, and daughter Poonam, 22, all residents of Tyaonda village in Ganj Basoda.Police sources said that Maharaj Giri was working as priest in village temple and also owned agriculture land in village. Recently there was a dispute among Maharaj Giri with some villagers who were trying to construct shops near the temple. Later the case reached at police station after which on the complaint of other party, police had booked Maharaj Giri and his son Sachin on charges of attempt to murder. Subsequently both the father and son went to jail from where they were released on bail few weeks ago.
The locals in their statements given to police said that since after releasing from jail, father and son remained depressed and stopped communicating with the villagers. On Wednesday early morning, all the family members hanged themselves after performing routine pooja in the house. When Maharaja Giri did not reached the temple to open its gate, villagers reached at his house where they spotted all the family members hanging inside the house after which police were called.
