BJP submits no expenses details to EC

BHOPAL : BJP has not submitted its election expenditure statement to the Election Commission for state Assembly elections, 2013. BSP declared that no fund was collected during Assembly elections.  National parties considered for the report are INC, BSP, NCP, CPI and CPM. Association for Democratic Reforms and Madhya Pradesh Election Watch has released its analysis about election fund expenditure by national and regional political parties.

Total fund collected by the national parties (INC, NCP, CPI and CPM) was Rs 34.54 crore and total expenditure incurred by them was Rs 34.04 crore.

Of the nine regional parties — LJP, Shiv Sena, SP, RSP, NPP, JDU, JDS, IUML and AIFB— only LJP and Shiv Sena submitted their election expenditure statements to the Election Commission.

LJP declared that the party neither collected funds nor incurred any expenditure during the Assembly elections.

The total funds collected by the national and regional parties amounted to Rs 34.71 crore, of which 98 per cent or Rs 33.9 crore was collected by cheque/DD and 2 per cent or Rs 78 lakh was collected by cash. While INC declared the maximum amount of Rs 34.16 crore collected in cash and cheque, the least amount of Rs 2 lakh was declared by NCP.

Out of the total expenditure, Rs 32.27 crore (95 per cent) was incurred by cheques while Rs 1.77 lakh (5 per cent) was spent in cash.

INC declared an

expenditure of Rs 32.21 crore paid by cheques and Rs 1.57 crore in cash while CPI declared a total expenditure of Rs 2.7 lakh, incurred in cash.

No fund for publicity: LJP, Shiv Sena

LJP and Shiv Sena declared that no expenditure was incurred by the parties on publicity, travel, on candidates or any other expenditure.

Only INC and CPM declared expenses under publicity (Rs 2.07 crore) while INC, NCP and CPM spent Rs 2.8 crore on travel, INC spent Rs 12.79 lakh on other/ miscellaneous expenses and a total of Rs 29.18 crore with CPI and CPM on candidates.

Cong spends maximum on public meetings

INC has spent the maximum amount of Rs 1.34 crore on public meetings, while CPM spent Rs 15.99 lakh on public meetings. No other political party which contested Assembly Elections declared any expenditure on publicity for the elections.

INC declared a total expenditure of Rs 2.78 crore on travel of star campaigners and Rs 45,000 on travel of leaders while NCP declared the second highest travel expenditure of Rs 60,000 on star campaigners and Rs 1 lakh on travel of leaders.
