BHOPAL : The announcement made by state general secretary, Bharatiya Janata Party, Arvind Bhadoria to accept most of the demands of Panchayat representatives in a press conference has created a new controversy. Chief spokesman of the Congress, KK Mishra has asked chief minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan about the capacity of Bhadoria with which he announced accepting demands of the Panchayat representatives. Mishra said the announcement should have been made either by the Panchayat minister or any other government representative, but how could a BJP office-bearer make the announcement?
Bhadoria said a consensus was reached on most of the matters in a meeting of the CM with the CM with 50 Panchayat representatives on Thursday. Bhadoria said the formal announcement would be made in a programme on February 21 in which Panchayat representatives would felicitate the CM. He said the demand of giving a facility to Sarpanchs to withdraw Rs 2 lakh in four times has been accepted. The demands of entitlement of yellow beacon on vehicle, scrapping of the order of not giving benefits available to BPL category to a person on becoming a Panch, right of transfer to title to Panchayats, have also been accepted.
The government has cancelled a programme of Panchayats slated to be held on February 6 because of model code of conduct being in force for Maihar by-polls and because of this the announcement has been made by the BJP general secretary so that the Panchayat representatives do not get up in arms.
