BHOPAL : Usually the rooms of government officers display boards directing the visitors to enter only during fixed meeting hours, not enter without permission and switch off mobiles phone before entering etc.
But State Administrative Service officer Icchhit Gadpale, who is posted as sub-divisional magistrate (SDM), Ashok Nagar has put an unusual board outside his room.
The plate is a lesson to every bureaucrat in the state. The plate says ‘Kripya karyalayeen samay mein milney ke liye anumati ki awashyakta nahin hai, hamari uplabdhata apke liye hi hai’ (There is no need to seek permission to meet during office hours. We are available only for you).
Gadpale, after joining as SDM on January 13, has made it clear that anyone can meet him without seeking prior appointment or sending in slips or visiting cards.
Gadpale maintains the basic job of an SDM is to listen to the problems of the people in his office. He said when he took over as SDM, outside his office room was affixed a plate saying that the meeting hours were from 3 to 4 pm. Gadpale said he found it improper to limit the meeting hours with public and he replaced the plate.
This act of Gadpale, which has opened government office for public service, is receiving appreciation in social media too.
