Bhopal: A food industry is thriving on taste which is now above all the boundaries. We all should feel it and try to take it to the next level. Renowned chef Sanjeev Kapoor interacted with students and media in Bhopal on Tuesday. We have all heard of Jalpaiguri in Bengal which is a district but we don’t know about a fruit which is also believed to be behind naming of the city, he said.
We should promote the food of our area otherwise it remains restricted to the locals only. Bhopal has a lot to offer in terms of delicious food but we can see, no delicacy of Bhopal has attained nationwide popularity. He said, “Take for instance namak wali tea, which he has heard of, but has never tasted.”
He further said that in every top restaurant we are supposed to have local ingredients. Other states have their own local food delicacies which they promote. Sometimes the city is known for that particular taste. Kapoor said that he had never planned to be involved in the food industry and that it was only that he worked here and became what he is today.
He said that he has a venture in Indore where he ensures the visitors get the mixture along with their food as it is like a ritual there. He said that organic farming is needed for a healthy society but we have to also ensure food is grown and sold so that everyone can afford.
He also told about an incident where horse riding and camel riding was banned to stop animal violence but no one thought about the ones who were in that industry. He said that the farming of any kind has to be done in a way that everyone has food and other things needed for a healthy life.
