Bhopal: Police personnel in the state received big New Year gift from new government. Congress in its ‘Vachan Patra’, in accordance with Chief Minister Kamal Nath’s wishes had promised of giving weekly off to police personnel. Director general of police (DGP) Rishi Shukla on Tuesday, released order for one day holiday in a week to police personnel on field postings.
Police personnel would now be getting one day holiday in a week. Any police personnel, unable to avail the weekly holiday, would be given off on any other day in the month. The holiday would be lapsed if not availed in the same month, said the order.
Police personnel were demanding weekly off for a long time. Babulal Gaur during his term as home minister had announced holiday for the police but it could not be implemented. Congress in its Vachan Patra included provision for holiday to police personnel. Nath, within fifteen days of coming to power, got the order for weekly off released.
