BHOPAL: Balkot AIR strike is fine, but in no case should the situation allow to escalate because full scale war will not be in the interest of either of the nation. War can’t solve any problem only dialogue can. This is the broad reaction of the creative personalities and academicians who is participating in the three-day event ‘Jashn-e-Urdu’ prevailing underway at Ravindra Bhawan.

Free Press sought their reactions in view of heightened tensions between India and Pakistan. Following India’s pre dawn surgical air strike at JeM training camp in Pakistan, the relation between two neighbours seems to have taken a dangerous turn.

Excerpts:

Rajeev Verma, film, TV and theatre actor
Air strike is good and it was necessary. But we did strike on Indo-Pak border not in Pakistan. But the most important thing here is that why the strike is being done during election only. And how Pulwama terror attack occurred? What were our intelligent agencies doing? First of all, we should investigate this so that such attack couldn’t repeat. I am not expert but the entire situation indicates that war may break out to cancel the election.

Raza Murad, film actor
We can’t say anything because situation is very explosive. Anything can be happened. But we will pray that full scale war should not break out because war itself is problem. Aur samasya ka hal samasya nahi ho sakta. The air strike was good reply of Pulawa terror attack. They must realise their mistakes.

Kavita Seth, singer
I don’t think so war like situation will be held because government of both sides whether it is of India or of Pakistan can afford. There is loss of both. The airstrike was good. It was necessary because most of people think India as soft country. We never initiated hooliganism but if someone is doing then at what extent we will bear. This was very right steps.

Siraj Ajmali, professor, Aligarh University
The air strike was fine. If someone is attacking our country how can be keep quite. We are not wearing bangles. So, it was essential. But we are not in favour of war. It should not break out at any cost because in any war there is loss of humanity. Aur Insaniyat ka loss kisi bh haal mein nahi hona chahiye…

Sohail Bukhari, shayar
I hail from Bhopal but have been living in Qatar for35 years. The strike was necessary. India is so powerful country. So, it is shameful, If they don’t take action. I don’t think so that a war situation will occur and it shouldn’t. The issue is political to an extent. And some people are taking its benefit. I think, dialogue is only solution not war. The situation can be solved if politicians or representatives of the politicians take honest initiative.
