Bhopal: Victory margin of 13 ministers of present Shivraj Singh Chouhan government during the 2013 MP state assembly polls is less than the number of voters deleted from the voting list by Election Commission of India (ECI) between January and July 2018.

ECI had deleted names of more than 24 lakh dead, shifted, absentee and repeat/duplicate voters being deleted from the voter lists of total 230 assembly seats. Even the powerful national general secretary of BJP and former minister Kailash Vijayvargiya’s 2013 winning margin of 12,216 votes from Dr Ambedkar Nagar-Mhow in Indore district was less than the 19,309 voters whose names have been deleted from the list till now.

Interestingly some senior Congress legislators also fit the same analysis. Congress’ chief whip in Vidhan Sabha Ramniwas Rawat won the 2013 polls from Vijaypur seat of Sheopur district by 2149 votes, while number of voters deleted from the voting list of the same constituency now stands at 8609 voters.

State Congress working president Jeetu Patwari won the last election from Rau seat of Indore district by 18,559 votes which is less than the 26,359 voters whose names stand deleted from the voter list of the same seat. Sunderlal Tiwari from Gurh (1382 votes/9349 voters deleted now) and Govind Singh from Lahar (6273 votes/10,696 deleted voters).

However, BJP spokesperson Rajnish Agarwal claimed that the deleted voters and the winning margin is not linked with party’s victory, “The party is getting love and favour of the voters in every election in the state and importantly the party did not believe in the fake and bogus voting”.

But Congress vice president of media cell Bhupendra Gupta disagrees with BJP’s claim. He alleged that party has been regularly complaining the ECI about the fake and bogus voters in MP. “If the election is conducted with full transparency the party will surely going to win the election-2018. The removal of the 24 lakh voters from the electoral roll shows that somehow they are these voters have supported the BJP to form the government”, he claimed.

Also, over 10.69 lakh new voters have been added in the lists of the same 230 assembly seats where elections are slated in November-December 2018, which put the total number of voters in all constituencies at over 4.94 crore as on July 31, 2018.
