Bhopal: Upper Lake to get walking pathway

BHOPAL: Upper lake will soon have a walking pathway built around, for pedestrians and it will ensure connectivity from the boat club to Dr. Shankar Dayal Sharma park near Retghat. It will be then delightful for  the visitors to take a walk along the upper lake from under the cable stay bridge and get a  view of surrounding areas like sheetal Das ki Baghiya. It is likely to be inaugurated in December this year.

The Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) has finalised tenders for it. The areas around the lake that see footfalls everyday will be linked with the new pathway. Now, visitors have to take to the road to get another area but after the new subway will be built, they will be able to pass through all these areas around the lake on foot. Upper lake has a subway around near VIP road that is now used for walk but the visitors on the side of boat club have to reach there through the cable stay bridge.

Now, with the new pathway they will be able to go through these areas on foot. The new subway is being developed at a cost of Rs 2 crore and will reach completion in nine months.  The pathway will be built from the boat club and will pass through the Boat club, Sheetal Das KI Baghiya, Vardhaman park to the Shankar Dayal Sharma park. BMC engineer Santosh Gupta says we will use pillars in the upper lake for the pathway to be built under the stay bridge.
