Bhopal: Aishbagh police busted a two-member gang engaged in printing and circulating fake currency notes and recovered 250 counterfeit currency notes in the denominations of Rs 50 and Rs 500. The duo was printing fake notes using a colour printer at their residence.
Police also recovered a colour printer, a computer, a scanner, paper cutting tools and different coloured inks used for printing the fake currencies. Receiving a tip off that a youth was circulating fake currency notes of Rs 50 near liquor shop and adjoining areas, police swung into action and detained him on Monday. The youth identified as Deepak Ahirwar was caught with five fake currency notes in the denomination of Rs 50.
The accused confessed to have printed and the fake currency note with his Ankit Ahirwar, a resident of Laxmi Mandi. The two used to print the fake currencies and then circulated it in the market. Police also arrested Ankit, who was mastermind of the gang.
During interrogation Ankit told police that he printed fake currency notes of Rs 50 and Rs 500 denomination as they could be easily circulated in the market. They used to print Rs 50 denomination currency as it was always in demand and moved quickly.
For circulating the fake currency, Ankit roped in one of his acquaintances Deepak. Ankit told police that he used coloured photocopy machine to create currency notes. Police produced them in the court from where they were taken on two days police remand.
