Bhopal: Two escape  murderous assault, eight booked

Over half a dozen assailants made a murderous assault on two brothers of a listed criminal at Putlighar under Teela Jamalpura police area on Monday night. The 18-year-old youth escaped miraculously as the assailants opened fire at him. His brother who came to his rescue was attacked with sharped-edged weapons. The two youths sustained injuries; police have booked eight persons for the assault.

Police said that Faizan, 18, whose brother Rizwan is a notorious criminal of the area, was visiting a pan kiosk around 10 pm. While Faizan was having pan, four men approached him inquiring about Rizwan.  Faizan told them that his brother was not at home. Before, he could understand anything, one of the men took out a pistol and opened fire at him. Faizan ran for his life towards his house, however there he was accosted by four other men waiting for him. They attacked Faizan with sword. As Faizan fell on ground screaming for help, his brother Salman hearing his call came running to him.

The men then assaulted Salmaan with swords and sticks. No one dared to intervene as the assailants were well equipped. The accused left leaving two brothers bleeding. Faizan was attacked with sword on leg, while Salmaan sustained head injury.  On receiving information about the incident, Teela police reached the area and seized two bullets from the spot. The accused have been identified as Azhar, Azzu, Adil, Haidar, Pappan, Faizu, Zahur and Item and booked under relevant sections of IPC.

According to city superintendent of police (CSP) Shahjahanabad Nagendra Pateriya said that accused Azhar and victims’ brother Rizwan are listed criminals of the Teela area. They have over dozen of cases in their name, he said.
