BHOPAL: A truck driver and his helper were robbed of Rs 18,000 and a mobile phone and beaten up brutally near Ramgarh under Berasia police station late on Saturday night when they were going to Jaipur from Guna via Bhopal. The two were attacked by over half a dozen miscreants after the truck had a flat tyre.
Police suspect the miscreants might have laid trap for the victims and when the tyre got deflated the victims were robbed. Padri group, which has earned the dubious distinction for committing such crimes in the region, is under scanner.
According to the police, truck driver Chhotu Kushwaha and helper Azgar Ali of truck (MP33-G-0645) was robbed by the half a dozen miscreants between Ramgarh and Bhojpur Ghati when they were trying to change the deflated tyre. Iron rods and wooden sticks were used in the attack.
A Shivpuri-based transport company owns the truck and after delivery. The police have registered a case under Section 394 of the IPC and have started further investigation. The police said the victims were provided treatment and reportedly their condition was stable. The search for the miscreants in the nearby areas has been started by the police.
