Bhopal: The state cyber cell police on Monday arrested eighteen-year-old boy from Budni tehsil in Sehore district for circulating a minor girl’s objectionable pictures on social media. The girl resides in neighborhood of the accused and the two knew each other since childhood.
The girl had given her mobile phone to Deepak Lodhi (18) for opening its pattern lock. However, before handing over her mobile the girl forgot to take out the memory card from it. The boy managed to access girl’s personal pictures and circulated them on WhatsApp. When girl’s pictures went viral on social media, her father reported the matter to cyber police.
According to Superintendent of Police Shailendra Singh Chouhan, the victim basically hails from Dhikri village but was living with her relatives in Bhopal for her studies. The incident took place in June 2017 when the girl had gone to her native village during summer vacations.
The girl had recently changed her mobile lock screen pattern, when she tried to unlock it she failed. She gave the handset to Deepak to get it unlocked as one of his relative runs a mobile repairing shop. The accused is 12th class pass out and well acquainted with the girl since childhood. Deepak took girl’s mobile but didn’t return it saying that he has lost the phone. Later during one of her visits, the girl managed to recover her mobile phone from the house of accused but found its memory card missing.
Later when the victim’s objectionable pictures went viral on the local WhatsApp groups in village, the girl’s father reported the matter to cyber police. The victim told police that there were some personal pictures of her in that memory card. When the boy came to know that the matter has reached police, he had escaped to Budni.
