Bhopal: The action taken by the district education officer of Ashoknagar, for suspending two teachers on the open defecation issue, is making the government employees searing. The issue is going to boomerang on the DEO in coming future. The general secretary of class III of government employees association had written the letter to the chief secretary against the suspension of the two teachers who had been charged for open defecation by the district education officer Ashoknagar.

The general secretary LN Sharma accused Ashoknagar DEO of using Swacch Bharat Abhiyan as a tool to harass employees. The DEO had suspended two teachers, assistant teacher Mahendra Singh Yadav and Prem Prakash Prajapati. The suspended assistant teacher Mahendra Singh Yadav posted in primary school Budera of Isagarh block of Ashoknagar has been suspended because he had gone to defecate in open.

In another case teacher Prem Prakash Prajapati had been suspended, because his wife had gone for open defecation. As per the rule, person who is found defecating in open are to be penalised with fine, however the DEO took the action without knowing this fact and suspended the teacher for no fault of his. It was his family member who was at fault and the penalty should have imposed on her, he added.

If the teacher had done this mistake, the local body should have imposed penalty on Yadav and on Prajapati wife, but suspending him form the job, it’s nothing but harassment, said Sharma. “This also shows that the DEO is insensible and working like dictator, in his suspension letter it is stated that they are suspended for violating the civil service conduct rule, but in the rule book there is no such reason mentioned,” he added.

Sharma further said that, first of all the DEO must have served the notice to them and if their reply were found unsatisfactory then action should have been taken, but the official procedure were ignored and prompt action were taken going against the rule, said Sharma adding that the organisation will take strong action if their suspension are cancelled.
