Chief Minister Kamal Nath took serious note of the receding ground water level and asked the administration to keep vigil on it. He asked the officials concerned to make arrangements for drinking water on priority basis. He directed all local bodies to start repair work of all the drinking water sources in summer and check their quality.
Nath also instructed the Public Health Engineering department and the principal of secretary Urban Development and Administration to identify areas that face water scarcity and make arrangements for it. He told the public representatives to establish a rapport with locals in their respective areas and seek their support to deal with water woes.
Nath has asked all the district collectors, office-bearers, commissioners and chief executive officers of Municipal Corporations, Municipal Council and District Panchayat to convene a meeting and review the water supply arrangements.
The Chief Minister said that water should be provided through tankers in places where water sources have either dried up or are unavailable. Nath has also directed the officials to launch campaign to make people aware about water conservation to stop its wastage.
