Bhopal: Minister for environment and public works Sajjan Singh Verma directed the officials of the pollution control board to initiate action to close those industrial units that are polluting rivers in the state. He gave these directions at a meeting of the pollution control board held in Bhopal on Thursday.
He categorically spoke about the industrial units in Dewas and Nagda Industrial Area which are polluting Kshipra and Chambal river with their contaminated water. Conduct monthly inspection Expressing concern over the pollution in the Chambal river near Nagda, Verma gave instructions to the officers for monthly inspection of the industrial units there. He also issued directives to conduct probe Cheerakhana Nala pollution caused by Pithampur Industrial area.
Closure notice issued Environment department principal secretary Anupam Rajan told minister that after the inspection of units in Dewas and Nagda Industrial Area it was found that some units like M/s Sun Pharma Ltd, M/s Sharda Minerals and Chemicals Pvt Ltd, M/s Swastik International Pvt Ltd, M/s Keshav Industries Ltd, M/s Jaju Surgical Ltd., M/s Raj Pioneer Pvt Ltd, M/s Naveen Fluorine International Ltd and M/s H R Johnson Ltd are causing pollution. The pollution control board has served closure notices to these units, and legal action will be taken against them within 15 days if they do not give a satisfactory reply, Rajan said.
