Bhopal: With one more swine flu death on Monday, the tally in the state capital has reached to 21. Nine patients who were undergoing treatment have been discharged.
CMHO Dr NU Khan said, “So far, twenty one patients have died in Bhopal.Nine patients undergoing treatment in government and private hospitals have been discharged.”
Despite all preventive and precautionary measures Swine flu cases are on rise in the state. At least 40 people have been tested positive for swine flu in the city. Fifty per cent of the patients are reported to be on ventilators.
There are 10 swine flu patients in Hamidia Hospital, of which 4 are on ventilators. Similarly, six patients are undergoing treatment in JP Hospital and 20 are admitted to private hospitals –Bansal and National Hospital.
The CHMO said that all facilities–kit with medicines temi flu, masks and other articles have been provided to designated private hospitals—Bansal and National Hospital. In our government hospitals, we have made isolation wards and there is no dearth of medicines and facilities, assured Khan.
H1N1 blood test report issued within 24 hours: Dr Chaurasia
With the opening of virology laboratory at Gandhi medical College, Bhopal, swine flu test time has been reduced by one–fifth. Earlier, it used to take 4-5 days, but with the coming up of the laboratory in GMC, the rest reports are being given in just 24 hours. Besides, blood samples tests are also been conducted at AIIMS and GMC.
Dr Deepti Chaurasia, HoD of Virology laboratory, said, “Currently, we are giving test report in 24 hours. Earlier, we were totally dependent on AIIMS but now AIIMS and Virology Lab, GMC administration are sharing the load of blood samples tests. Our GMC has started covering larger areas of the state.”
If blood samples are brought in morning, their results are being given by the evening same day, informed Chaurasia, adding that H1N1 patients are being diagnosed early and this is helping in ensuring quick treatment.
