Railway attributes the delay in completion of Subhash Nagar railway Over Bridge (ROB) to placement of bow-string girders. The bow-string girders will give unique look to bridge and it will be first such bridge in the state. Railway has claimed that latest by August, 2019, the ROB will be ready for public.

Deputy chief engineer (WCR) MA Rahman said, “The main reason behind delay is bow–string girder. It is easy to place I-type girder on bridge but it is very difficult to place bow string girders. There will be two girders on Subhash Nagar ROB. Every work is being completed in time. By August 2019, its will be ready for use.”

The ROB will directly benefit 700,000 residents of the surrounding areas. Problem of traffic jam at Subhash Nagar, Rachna Nagar under-bridge and Ashoka Gardens will be resolved. On the other hand, commuters passing through Bhopal Station, Nishatpura, Govindpura, Piplani, Jinsi, MP Nagar, Rachna Nagar and Security Road will also get relief. As per the PWD officials, the construction of the bridge has been done in such a way that the electricity or other wires can be laid underground below the bridge.

There will be a system for rainwater drainage at Ashoka Gardens and MP Nagar side. The ROB has a 1.5-meter wide footpath. Earlier the work had to be stopped on account of Kolar pipeline and somehow, the major obstacles have been solved. Now the Railway is preparing to tackle the last in the line of the challenge- the installation of bow-string girders.
