For second time in a month, the jan ashirwad yatra of the Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan was attacked upon. Two incident of stone pelting on CM’S convoy has raised security concerns, besides it has also brought to fore the failure of local intelligence. Around 10-12 miscreants pelted stones on the convoy of Chouhan near Kalukhera village in Ujjain district on Monday night. The CM was heading to Nagda from Mahidpur when the incident occurred.

Stones hit two police patrolling vehicles with the convoy. Windshields of the two vehicles were broken. The police have arrested two persons in connection with the incident. Earlier, stones were hurled at Chouhan’s vehicle in Churhat area of Sidhi, the assembly constituency of Leader of Opposition Ajay Singh. The BJP had blamed the Congress for the attack and the home minister Bhupendra Singh Thakur had termed it as an ‘attempt to kill the CM’.

In wake of the Monday’s incident, a meeting of officials was convened at police headquarters on Tuesday to look into the security of the Chouhan. A new plan is being prepared to beef up the security of the CM who is schedule to go ahead with his Yatra on Wednesday.SP of the CM security Manu Vyas informed that the Chouhan is already having the Z+ security, the highest in the state.

Local police have been directed to increase the security personnel in the CM convoy and at the public meeting venues, he added. The officials however, blamed the local intelligence for failing to intercept any such incidents. They were heard discussing that the people capable of scripting such incidents were not being tracked down by the local intelligence and that is needed to be checked.

Congress questions BJP’s silence

While the BJP had termed the Sidhi incident as a well-planned conspiracy to ‘kill’ Chouhan, however, the party carder are maintaining silence on Mahidpur incident. Probably this could be for the fact that the constituency where the incident occurred is being rules by belongs to BJP. However, questioning their silence, the Leader of opposition Ajay Singh tweeted that neither the CM nor the home minister said anything about the people behind the stone pelting in Mahidpur.

This time the HM did not state as who wanted to kill the CM, read his tweet. Criticising the latest stone pelting incident, state Congress president Kamal Nath claimed that ‘the BJP was losing its base among the people and their anger is coming out’.
