Madhya Pradesh is likely to experience first winter rains around December 10. Light rains may occur over South and East Madhya Pradesh around December 9 and 10. However, these rains with low intensity will continue for a short period. Central and eastern parts of the state will receive rains, while northwest and northern districts would remain dry. Another spell of rains is expected around December 15 and 16, when the low-pressure area will form over West central Bay of Bengal and will move towards east Madhya Pradesh.
Moreover, these activities will not have much impact over the temperatures. But due to cloud cover and light rains, day temperatures over Madhya Pradesh may drop by 2-3 degree Celsius. Most parts of Central parts have remained dry for more than a month now. At present, minimum temperature over most parts of the states are significantly above normal whereas, whereas Madhya Pradesh witnessed near normal temperature.
According to meteorological department, sometimes a north-south trough forms from North India to Madhya Pradesh along with an active western disturbance over Jammu and Kashmir and this leads to rainfall in the state. Besides, southeasterly winds are blowing over Marathwada and Vidarbha.
Due to these warm and humid winds, minimum temperature over these places are high. Further, a north south trough has formed from Vidarbha to North interior Karnataka which might bring isolated light rain over parts of Vidarbha and Marathwada during the next 24 to 48 hours. Light rains may occur over South and East Madhya Pradesh within next couple of days around December 9 and 10.
