Bhopal: Stamp duty collection exceeds target

SEHORE: Sehore district is among the 10 top districts in the state in collection of stamp duty and registration fee. The district registrar Ratnesh Bhadoria had prepared a detailed action plan for realising the pending stamp duty dues. In thousands of cases, stamp duty was unpaid in the district. The department took a tough stand and as a result, Rs 1.09 crore of the overdue Rs 1.64 crore was deposited by the defaulters through challans. Ujjain district emerged at the top where more than Rs 4 crore of overdue amount was realised. The Sehore district had been given a target of Rs 52 crore for collection of stamp duty. Exceeding the target, Rs 59 crore was realised by the department.

District registrar Ratnesh Bhadoria said that many a time, the property buyers do not deposit the stipulated stamp duty as a result of which they have to pay the overdue amount with penalty. He has urged the people to ensure that they pay their dues in full so that they don’t have to any problems in the future.
