BHOPAL: Election Commission of India (ECI) has appointed special election observer for Ater vote counting, scheduled on April 13. Since the bypoll was declared in the state, several controversies have come into light in Ater constituency.

Congress candidate form Ater Hemant Katare has complained to the ECI about the security of the EVMs and strong room. He feared the machines could be tampered or changed. On Tuesday ECI appointed Kumar Jayant as a special election observer, while district registrar Umesh Shukla will be liaison officer.
