Bhopal: World No. 2 Basant Kumar Soni, Vivek Tatvavadi, Basant Shikari and Ashwini Suyal thrashed their opponent in the final round of their categories respectively and won the title of 3rd MP State Senior (Veteran) Badminton Championship on Thursday. Golesh, Sunil Desai-Basant Soni, Jayant Dugvekar-Sandeep Bishnoi and Aditya Pawar were the runner ups in their respective categories at the tournament which concluded in Chhindwara.
In the +55 men’s singles category, Basant Soni with his attacking game play, defeated Rajesh Kumar in easy sets of 21-5 and 21-8 to won the final. In 50 year category, top seeded international shuttler, Anand Moreshwar Tatvavadi thrashed Ambrish Nadkar in just 12 minutes by 21-7 and 21-3 and won the title.
In men’s double 60 year category, team of Delhi based famous child specialist Dr Ashwini Syal and Deepak Srivastava of Neemuch defeated the team of Jayant Dugvekar and Sandeep Bishnoi in an interesting match of 21-23, 21-13 and 22-20. In + 65 year category, Basant Kumar defeated Yashowardhan Gupta by 21-19, 19-21 and 21-11 and won the title. In the doubles of same category, team of Yashowardhan Gupta and Basant Shikari defeated Indore’s Ashok Jaiswal and Abdul Samad by 21-11 and 21-11 and won their second title.
