Bhopal: The claims of security arrangements made by Police fell flat during demonstration of Congressmen on Friday against Karnataka governor’s invitation to the BJP to form government there. The demonstration, led by former Congress president Suresh Pachauri, marked a Dharna at Roshanpura followed by a foot march to Raj Bhawan.
The demonstrators broke the barricades and reached near the gate of Rajbhawan. The security guards at the Rajbhawan had to shut the gates haphazardly to prevent demonstrators from entering Raj Bhawan. Neither barricades nor adequate police force were deployed to control the foot march. Police personnel tried to stop the Congressmen when they reached near Raj Bhawan.
Police and Congress workers had rounds of clashes at the gate later. Annoyed over the clash with police State in-charge of Congress Deepak Babaria sat on dharna in front of Raj Bhawan.
Pachauri alleged that the Bharatiya Janata Party was demolishing all set traditions of forming the government. He claimed that despite Congress and JD(S) having adequate majority to form the government, the Governor invited the BJP to form the government.
Pachauri alleged that the BJP had made mockery of the constitution by forming government in Karnataka. Pachauri also held the Narendra Modi government at the Centre responsible for the fiasco. Amidst skirmishes between Police and Congress workers, Congress workers came to know about the decision of the Supreme Court. Congressmen expressed happiness over the decision of the Supreme Court.
