Bhopal: Members of SAPKAS would stage demonstration against misuse of SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act against the people of general category at Vidhan Sabha on February 18, the first day of State assembly. Party national president Hiralal Trivedi addressing a press conference claimed that the number of cases against the general and OBC category have increased manifold after Congress formed the government in the state.
Due to the fear of the ‘black law’ many of the people have gone missing and many had tried to commit suicide, said Trivedi, adding one has already ended his life. A doctor posted in Churhat community health centre Dr Shubham Shukla had committed suicide, because one of the staff nurse had filed a fake complaint against him and ergo he was booked under the Act, he added.
The party had submitted memorandums to the Government seeking justice to the family, but the government did not pay any heed to their demand, said Trivedi. Citing other cases, he said that a number of people have been falsely implicated and harassed Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology, director Narendra Raghuwanshi, the EE of MPEB Ujjain EE are among the people who have been facing a lot of harassment, said SAPKAS president. The party had also demanded implementation of 10 per cent reservation to general category people in the recruitment.
