Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh is staring at dry days ahead as monsoon weakened in most parts of the state this month. August started on a dry note and almost dry spell is expected for rest of the month.
August was grim as the first week of the month did not witness good rainfall, while the following week also remained dry and now what the weatherman have predicted for the rest of the month is no music to ears. July too did not get much rain as it was expected. Bhopal still has deficit of 22 per cent. Now, Madhya Pradesh pins hope on September.
However, according to weather office there might be some rain activities at a few places including Indore, Hoshangabad, Ujjain and Jabalpur division and Dindori, Annupur, Rajgarh and Guna districts in next few days.
As per the meteorological department, axis of monsoon trough continues to run close to the foothills of Himalayas. A fresh Western Disturbance is over North Pakistan and adjoining areas. An upper air cyclonic circulation is over East Bihar and adjoining Sub-Himalayan West Bengal.
A trough is extending from this cyclonic circulation to North Bay of Bengal. Another cyclonic circulation is over the coast of South Maharashtra, East coast, South Andhra Pradesh, and North Tamil Nadu coast. With
Maharashtra, East coast, South Andhra Pradesh, and North Tamil Nadu coast. With overall impact, there may be light rain in MP; otherwise there will be almost dry spell.
Met PRO GD Mishra said, “There is scope for a system next week but overall it will be poor monsoon in August in MP. But still we are hopeful as there is September for the rain. But August will remain almost dry. It happens sometimes that September records very good rains so still we have hope.”
