Bhopal: The raids conducted by the I-T department on Friday have exposed the officer-businessmen nexus, involved in massive corruption in the state. Santosh Ramtani, owner of Surabhi Homes, is running his business in partnership with Pradeep Saraiyya, a retired engineer of the MPEB. And they were partners even when Saraiyya was in service.

Saraiyya used to invest his ill-gotten wealth in the projects of Surabhi Homes. He also channelised the money of other corrupt homes for investment in Surabhi Homes. Many persons had used Sarayya’s services to invest their black money in educational enterprises of the Surabhi Group. The I-T plans to scrutinise the returns of such persons.

Saraiyya was posted in the capital for a long period and the I-T men are trying to unearth his links. The I-T authorities suspect that two politicians have also invested their wealth in the projects of the company. The I-T officials, however, declined comment on the issue.

Sanjay Vijay Singh Shinde used to visit Bhopal in connection with the work of the mining company he was employed in and had relations with many officers. These officers had suggested to him that he should open resorts in the capital. Thereafter, he bought land in Ratibad to start a resort.

Sources said that Shinde had arranged trips of many officers to Goa. Evidence to this effect has also been unearthed in the raids.
There are also indications that some officers of the state may have invested their money in Shinde’s business. I-T department is also collecting information regarding the land purchased by Shinde for the resort. Notices might to be issued to more persons once the raids are completed for seeking information from them.
