BHOPAL: Business of Rs 5.5 lakh crore was affected in Madhya Pradesh with bankers strike under United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU). Around 40,000 bank employees were on strike in MP and it caused a loss of business of Rs 5.5 lakh crore. In Bhopal, business worth Rs 80,000 crore suffered due to strike of bankers of Public Sector Unit (PSU).
The conciliation meeting before the chief labour commissioner failed on February 21 to break the logjam as the bank management represented by the Indian Banks Association did not agree to demands and put conditions.
UFBE is an umbrella body of 9 unions, but two of the Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh affiliates-National Organisation of Bank Workers and National Organisation of Bank Officers-were not part of the stir.
