Bhopal: Forest department has placed cages and installed trap camera at Shahpura forest areas. A leopard was spotted in CCTV footage in Shahpura and Trilanga on intervening night of Thursday-Friday. It was also spotted on Saturday. DFO (Bhopal) HS Mishra said, “We have placed two cages to trap leopard.
On intervening night of Thursday –Friday, it was spotted in Shahpura and Trilanga. On intervening night of Friday-Saturday, it was also spotted in the same location. We have placed the cages and installed the trap cameras.”“Teams have been deployed for patrolling. Problem with us is that even stray canines and other carnivores also get trapped in our cages. So we have to ensure a close vigil on the traps laid.”
Forest department teams carried out patrolling and search failed but failed to trace out the big cat. Residents of Shahpura, Akash Ganga, Gulmohar and Trilanga, Aura Mall, Green City, colonies near Shahpura police stations are in panic after the video went viral showing the movement of this big cat. The frequent movement has also made created apprehensions of man animal conflict. The forest department has stepped up its vigil on the entire stretch from WALMI to Kaliasot and Shahpura to trap and trace the leopard.
