Bhopal: The PHQ have identified the ‘hotspots’ in the state where the farmers’ agitation may go aggressive. Police are keeping strict vigil on sugarcane farmers who are brewing resentment against government over various farm issues. Even the onion and garlic producing farmers may go violent during the agitation.
As many as 78 different farmer’s association have called 10-day nationwide bandh from June 1 to 10. They have threatened to cut off the supplies of milk, vegetables, fruits and other products to cities and towns.
All geared up to tackle any situation during the bandh, police department has identified the sensitive areas where the farmers’ agitation may go violent. As per the official sources, the sensitive areas include Western MP, Indore and Ujjain divisions, Sagar, Damoh, Gwalior, Dabra, Guna, Hosangabad, Narsinghpur, Piparia, Harda, Seoni-Malwa and Nasrulganj.
“Primarily the districts of Western MP, including Indore and Ujjain division are identified as hotspots districts. In these districts the agitation may take violent turn. The other sensitive areas are Sagar and Damoh of Bundelkhand region”, said one of senior officials at PHQ.
State capital, including the adjoining districts like Raisen, Vidisha, Sehore are also sensitive, the officer informed. Sugarcane producing farmers may turn up the heat on government during the agitation as they are quite sour over non-payment of their produce. Around Rs 140 crore is due on sugar mills.
The Jaatpatti area which includes Hosangabad, Narsinghpur, Piparia, Harda, Seoni-Malwa, Nasrulganj and places like Gwalior, Dabra, Guna are sensitive due to non payment of the sugarcane crop purchased by the mills, informed the officer. Rewa, Sahdol division and few districts of Sagar division are expected to remain peaceful.
