BHOPAL: Police arrested an inter-state chain snatcher during vehicle checking drive on Wednesday. It was a joint operation of Piplani and Ayodhya police. They nabbed two robbers during vehicle checking drive at Khedapati temple and recovered stolen goods from their possession.
SP (South) Siddhartha Bahuguna said, “Miscreants were nabbed during vehicle checking drive by Piplani and Ayodhya Nagar police. The two miscreants on a Pulsar bike bearing registration number MP04-NW-5586 were asked to stop and show documents regarding the motorbike but they failed to provide documents and later confessed that the motorbike was stolen. They also admitted to committing two robberies.”
The bike was stolen from Kotwali area while gold chains were robbed from Pipalni and Ayodhya Nagar areas. The miscreants were identified as Hasan Ali (27), son of Rahat Ali and Abbas Ali alias Salman, 19, son of Pingu Ali, both hails from Sanjay Nagar railway station near Irani Dera.
Hasan has committed loots in Chennai also. SP Bahuguna said that Hasan Ali was burdened with huge debts and the debtors are forcing him to return money and to settle his borrowed money he started robbery and started chain snatching.
The accomplice of Hasan, Abbas was also facing similar situation and to make fast money he joined Hasan in robberies. The two aimed to snatch gold chains and escape to Dharwad in Karnataka. After stealing a bike from Kotwali on Feb 28, they targeted elderly women as they would offer very less resistance and were easy targets.
