Bhopal: Around 150 students who have applied for a job after completing a course in shorthand from Atal Bihari Vajpayee Hindi University, Bhopal, also known as Hindi University are now regretting their decision. The University started several vocational and technical courses to aid students in employment but failed to get the courses duly recognised from authorities concerned.
So far 280 students have passed the shorthand course from the university in past six years. About 150 students were selected for job on the basis of the course. They were shocked to learn during the verification of their documents that they stand disqualified for the job as their course was not recognized.
“I was selected for a job but I lost my job as I was told that I have only a mark sheet and not a diploma. The document given to me by the university was not accepted during the verification of the documents and I lost this opportunity for no fault of mine,” said a passed out student,requesting anonymity.
The affected students have been contacting the university authorities for help. However,the university authorities have offered them nothing except for assurance. “We are constantly in touch with the government authorities and are sure that the course would be recognised very soon. Our efforts are to get the course recognised from an earlier date so that student do not suffer,” said Prof Ramdev Bhardwaj, VC of Hindi University. The university has discontinued the course from this academic session due to non-recognition. The fate of the pass out students hangs in balance.
