BHOPAL: The Department of Higher Education has taken one more step in creating e-content for the students. It would be organising its first Faculty Development Programme to the e-content creators.

The department of higher education (DHE) has decided to prepare its own inventory of e-content for various courses that could be accessed by the students from anywhere besides helping the teachers as well.

The DHE, through a circular, had asked the professors to come forward and volunteer to prepare lectures etc. Teachers who are well versed with technology like you tube etc would be preferred. Nevertheless, the DHE had decided to provide orientation to the teachers who have volunteered for this initiative.

First batch of the Faculty Development Programme will get its orientation from June 21, online. This programme consists of six hours of training per day for six days. Main focus will remain on how to prepare video lectures. Participants will also be given assignments and they would have to prepare video lectures for hands-on experience.

Teachers participating in this training programme will be relieved from other duties in the college besides getting earn-leave as summer vacations are on.

After deciding on preparing e-content for students about a month ago, this would be the first training programme for the teachers. In the first phase teachers preparing lectures for UG courses have been included.

The content prepared by the teachers under this programme will remain property of the higher education department.

The idea of preparing e-content emerged after the pandemic when students had to largely depend on online classes. It was suggested that such video lectures should be recorded and kept for future use as well.
