One of the 94 MBBS students, who were deprived of admission in private medical colleges despite having eligibility in 2017, has filed a petition in the High Court, against private medical colleges of the state. He has claimed Rs 10 crore in compensation.
Justice RS Jha, Justice Sanjay Dwivedi issued notices to authorities concerned including PS medical education, DME, various private medical colleges—Chirayu Medical College, People Medical College, Sri Aurobindo Medical College and Post Graduate Institute Indore (SAMC Indore), R D Gardi Medical College(Ujjain), Index Medical College Hospital & Research Centre Indore and LN Medical College.
As per the complainant, he has no other option but to pursue BBA instead of MBBS as ineligible students (non-domicile) students were given chance to taken admission in mop-up round of counseling in midnight of September 10, 2017. HC Advocate Aditya Sanghi, who appeared on behalf of petitioner, said, “Pranshu Agrawal of Khandwa who had scored 413 out of 720 marks. In mop-up round of counseling on September 10, 2017, DME allotted all the 94 seats to non-domicile students who had scored less than 413. All were outsiders.
HC had declared those admissions in-valid. Government and private medical colleges had challenged HC’s decision in Supreme Court. SC also upheld HC decision but laid down ruling that as half of academic session passed off, so students should be permitted to study. Besides, SC had also stated for claim for deprived students. Now HC has issued notices to the authorities concerned and private medical colleges.”
