Bhopal: Nine die in road accidents on Holi

BHOPAL: Nine Holi revelers were killed on Monday in separate accidents. Eight of them were killed in Sehore district while one was killed in Damoh district.

In Rehti, five were killed after head on collision between their bikes. Those who died include Tularam, Deepak, Jitendra, Satish and Apnesh.

As per Rehti police, Tularam, 32, Deepak, 28 and Jitendra Yadav, 28, were on way to Bayan village from Rehti on bike (MP-05-MD-5792) while Rehti youths Satish, 24, and Apnesh Thakur were returning from Hoshangabad to Rehti on their bike (MP-37-MF-0610). Their bikes collided at Deepakheda Jod and all the five bikers died on the spot.

In Jawahra, devotees were on way to Ujjain for Mahakal darshan by Innova. The car turned turtle after hitting a truck, leaving three dead and five injured. The injured were referred to Bhopal. The accident occurred at Mehatwara near Ashta.

Those who died include Raj alias Manohar Badoiria of Shahjahabad, Manoj Giri and Govind Raghuvanshi. Those injured include Virendra, Babu, Krishna, Rajiv and Gaurav.  Investigating oOfficer Rambabu Yadav said, “All the eight were on way to Ujjain from Bhopal by Innova (MP—04-BC-3988). It hit a truck and turned turtle leaving three dead and five injured.”

In Champat-Piparia, a Scorpio SUV hit bike (MP-34-MF-0610) leaving one dead and two injured under Narginsgarh chowki.Sanju Ahirwar, 24, with his two friends Virendra and Pawan was on way home from an uncle’s residence at Batiagarh when the incident happened. Sanju was thrown away in pieces. Virendra and Pawan were injured.

Chowki-in-charge Hariram Manakar said, “Scorpio without registration number hit bike MP-34-MF-0610 leaving Sanju dead and Virendra and Pawan injured. The collision was so terrific that the body was blown into pieces. Condition of other two injured, who have developed multiple fractures, are reported to be stable. Mahendra Lodhi had purchased Scorpio in February.”
