BHOPAL: Professors of Anthropology from various North-East universities spoke at the national workshop on ‘Anthropology and Museums’ at Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Manav Sangrahalaya (IGRMS) in the concluding ceremony on Sunday. Director, Allahabad Museum, Rajesh Purohit, who was chief guest, said, “Introspect the subject you are teaching, try to emulate whatever experience you have gained here and inculcate in your teaching.”
Talking about several specimens/ exhibits which cannot be collected from their communities he said, “Not all exhibits or specimens of importance can be collected due to several religious or social reasons but you can always digitally document them and present with the help of audio-video and pictures, like a Ladakhi community is doing.”
Sarit Kumar Chaudhuri, director, IGRMS said, “Looking at the vastness of the exhibits, villages, exhibitions and documentations, three days are nothing. But we look forward to long term relationship on institutional and individual capacity with you all. I am sure you will share your meaningful ideas with this institution. We are very happy to receive a research proposal from Sikkim University and expect the same from others as well.” Rekha Das from Assam said, “I had a picture in my mind about this museum but this is huge in size and grand in presentation with very lively exhibitions.”
