Bhopal: Bhopal is not getting Narmada water. Entire Bhopal is being supplied from Upper Lake and Kolar dam so the state capital is facing water crisis and people are not getting sufficient quantity of water with sufficient pressure. Old Bhopal is supplied water from Upper Lake.

This is reason, there is undeclared water crisis and people are getting water with very less pressure. Nearly 30 per cent to 40 per cent population was to be supplied from Narmada Water supply. However, BMC administration claims that BMC has sufficient water stock of 90 days supply.

Nearly 150 residential colonies falling under purview of 15 wards along stretch of Hoshangabad Road, where Narmada water supply was to be supplied but the condition on ground is totally different. Over head tanks are filled which has disrupted and paralysed the water supply.

Nearly 1.5 lakh water connections from Naramada water supply were to be allotted but still target is far away. BJP leader and mayor –in-council (MiC) member Kewal Mishra said, “Residential colonies along entire stretch of Hoshangabad Road, are not getting Narmada water supply. It is pathetic condition.

Recently, UAD Minister had convened a meeting with former mayor and MLA Krishna Gaur, and congress corporator to take the stock of water supply from Narmada River and instructed officials to rectify the lacuna on the basis of feedback from people representatives.”

Congress corporator Guddu Chauhan said, “BMC administration is not lifting water from Narmada as only one motor, out of 4 motors is operated. This is reason, overhead tanks are not filled on regular basis leading to water shortage problems. It is a simple case of blatant disregard for the hassles faced by people and sheer mismanagement on the part of BMC.

However, BMC administration claims that they have water to make supply for three months. But people will hardly get water with sufficient pressure and quantity. Prevailing pilferage in the supply system including leakage is also a big issue.” ‘There is no water crisis’

Water supply in-charge AR Pawar said, “As such there is no water crisis. We have sufficient water for three months of entire summer. So currently we are supplying from half-an-hour to 45 minutes with sufficient pressure. Whenever, there is any leakage in feeder line, our team tries its level best in repairing at earlier as it is possible.”
