Bhopal: On the occasion of World Environment Day, Madhya Pradesh Urja Vikas Nigam (UVN) gifted E-Vehicles (EV) to CM and chief secretary in the state to encourage the official use of EVs in the state. EV was demonstrated at Vallabh Bhavan where new and renewable energy minister Narayan Singh Kushwaha and chairman UVN Vijendra Singh Sisodiya formally handed over the key to CM.
CM invoked to eradicate the ill effects of the pollution on the Day and also dictated the utility of solar power based EV and took a test drive of EV. Principal secretary of the UVN Manu Shrivastava informed that Indian government has initiated National Electric Mobility Mission (e-mobility) to encourage the use of EVs.
MP has implemented this program as solar based electric mobility program. This program is being launched from World Environment Day (5th June) in the state. He added that a charging station of EV has been established in the UVN campus. EVs would cover up to 130-140 kms in one charge.
Entire amount for purchasing EV and its charging infrastructure is coming from the exhibition scheme of Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE). He added that EV costs around Rs 12 lakh and the per kilometre cost of running an EV is approximately 0.89/ paisa while the fuel cost to run diesel and petrol vehicles is INR 4.2/Km and INR 5.00/Km respectively. He said that Use of EVs will help in bringing down the pollution as well the demand of imported petroleum products. This is the initiative of paryavaran mitra of MP on the World Environment Day.
