Bhopal: MLA, 12 others held protesting Katni SP transfer

BHOPAL: The Katni police have arrested an MLA and 12 others who were planning to stop trains in protest against the transfer of the superintendent of police Gaurav Tiwari, on Thursday. IG, CID will monitor the money laundering case, whereas the investigation will remain under the Katni police.

The protests in Katni district over the SPs transfer are refusing to abate. The administration has imposed section 144 at the Subhash Chowk, where the protesters were demonstrating.

It is alleged that the SP has been transferred because he had unveiled the money laundering case related to SK Minerals and Saravgi brothers.

ASP, Pramod Sonkar informed that the Congress MLA, Sourabh Singh and others were going to stop rail, the police have arrested the 13 people of various political parties including the MLA.

They were arrested under section 151, 107 and 116 of CrPC, later released on bail.

The ADG, CID KC Makwana had ordered that, IG CID, Salomon Minj will going to monitor the money laundering case. The SIT constituted by the SP Katni, probing the case will continue their investigations.

CID has destroyed vital evidence: Congress

The state Congress has alleged that CID officials have destroyed the papers relating to the Katni Axis Bank scam. State party chief spokesperson KK Mishra alleged in a press conference that the Saravgi Brothers, who are involved in the case, are having good relations with the MSME minister Sanjay Pathak and chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan. He also released a photograph of Pathak and CM along with Saragvi, who is absconding.  He alleged that around 100 fake accounts in the names of labourers and workers were opened and huge amount had been transferred. He wanted to know how these poor persons had got hold of huge sums of money.  He also alleged that the CM was trying to divert the issue by stating that the case should be given to the enforcement directorate. The state government, he said, cannot decide which case should go to the enforcement directorate.
