Bhopal: The annoyance of finance minister Tarun Bhanot proved dear to principal secretary, planning and statistics Anirudh Mukherjee. Mukherjee was transferred from the post of managing director of Provident Investment Company Limited (PICL) on Thursday. Finance principal secretary Manoj Govil has been given charge of Mukherjee.

The PICL maintains the properties of MP government located outside the state. The state owns properties worth millions in cities like Mumbai, Thane and Pune. A big scam in property of the Company took place in which the court has ordered investigations by CBI.

Mukherjee played a key role in the exposure of the scam. There were talks about selling out the properties of the Company but decision could not be taken as the matter was subjudice. Mukherjee wanted to shut down Company’s office at Mumbai and bring it to Bhopal but it had to face obstacles. Sources claimed that a retired officer was the mastermind of the scam. When Mukherjee was transferred to sports department, he had expressed his wish to quit the Company but he was not shifted then.
