Bhopal: Aggrieved students of RKDF Medical College on Monday filed a contempt petition in Supreme Court against state government, Directorate of Medical Education (DME) commissioner and director for non- compliance of the court’s order. Besides, the petitioners have also mentioned the name of additional chief secretary (ACS) R S Julania in their contempt plea.
The future of around 150 MBBS students who took admission in RKDF Medical College still hangs in balance as despite Supreme Court order, the state DME failed to take any decision on shifting these students in other medical colleges. The Apex court had ordered the DME to accommodate RKDF students in other colleges after the Medical Council of India (MCI), cancelled the affiliation of the medical college.
Before filing the petition, the students’ parents had called on ACS Julania over the issue, however, they did not get a positive response from the official. Advocate Harish Parashar said that Medical Council of India (MCI) had already clarified its stand in Supreme Court stating that it is ready to make available 135 seats for the students.
The court in its order had instructed the Madhya Pradesh DME to accommodate the MBBS students on the seats, however, the authorities failed to comply with the apex court order, said Parashar. On April 5, the apex court gave 15 day-time to the state government to coordinate with MCI for the admission of the students. But DME, Madhya Pradesh did not show any interest in complying with the court’s order, so the students decided to move the court, he added. The students are running from pillar to post to get admission in other medical colleges but to no avail.
