Bhopal: Markets to reopen today after two months, traders gear up to welcome shoppers to their safe and sanitized stores

BHOPAL: The lost glory of the glittering markets will return on Thursday when shutters of shops in the city will go up after a two months of gap following corona curfew. †Ahead of it, traders cleaned and sanitized their shops lying closed for a long period.

While grocery stores and hardware shops were opened from June 1 under graded unlocking process, textile, cosmetics, footwear, utensils, electronics, furniture items stores will also open from Thursday.

A day ahead of the reopening of the market, minister for medical education Vishwas Sarang and collector Avinash Lavania inspected 39 vaccination centres organized for the traders and their staffers in the city on Wednesday.

The duo reached New Market to inaugurate the mega vaccination camp organised at 39 centres across the city to inoculate around 8,000 people. They also inspected the vaccination drive and pasted stickers outside shops which read, 'Tika Lagvao-Dukaan Khulvao'.

Minister Sarang during the inspection said, The coronavirus has not completely gone, so one should take all precautions. Markets will be opened from tomorrow (Thursday) and all Covid-19 protocols and timings should be strictly adhered to. Traders will have to make circles outside the shops to ensure social distancing. The traders and the monitoring team that ensures compliance with corona guidelines will have to cooperate with each other only then will Bhopal win over Corona.

Collector Avinash Lavania said that traders will have to ensure that their staffers as well as customers follow all guidelines. The administration will create awareness on social distancing, masks, vaccination through loudspeaker announcements in the market. It is the duty of every citizen to follow the corona protocols so that a lockdown-like situation does not arise in Bhopal again, said Lavania.

Thok Vyapar Mandal general secretary Anupam Agrawal said that the traders are all geared up for reopening their outlets. ìThe traders today carried out cleaning of shops which were closed for around two months. They are all ready to welcome the customers as markets will be open for the public†from tomorrow (Thursday). Vaccination camps have been organised for traders and their employees, he further said.

New Market Traders Association president Satish Gangrade† said, ìToday, only vaccination of traders and employees and cleaning and sanitization of shops were carried out in the market. From Thursday, shops will be open and business will resume in full-fledged manner.

13,429 †traders, staffers get jabs

Around 13,429 †traders and their staffers got jabs at 39† vaccination camps being held for them. The district administration has claimed that 100 per cent target of vaccination was achieved at these 39 centres. Both Covishield and Covaxin were administered at these camps.
