Bhopal: For the first time the nomination forms will be submitted online, as the state election commission announced the election dates of local bodies including gram panchayats, on Friday. From July 17 nomination forms will be submitted, while polling will be done on August 9 and counting on August 12.
State election commissioner R Parsuram released the election schedule in a press conference. He said in the state, general elections, by-elections and right to recall elections would be conducted. As the election dates had been declared, the election code of conduct was being enforced in the scheduled places, he said.
Elections in 15 urban bodies of Dhar and Barwani will take place after October, because of displacement issues due to the Sardar Sarovar dam as on July 31 the gates of the dam will be closed.
For the first time candidates can file their nomination online.
The candidate can file their nomination from online kiosk and a staff posted at returning office will help to fill the forms.
The step is taken to make elections more transparent and easy, while filling the form the candidate may commit fewer mistakes.
Through mobile app voters can download their voters’ slip and show it to the presiding officer and can vote.
The commission will keep tight vigil on ‘Paid News’, as a committee has been constituted at state and district level, which will monitor the issue. Experts from media houses are also the members of the committee. Any payment above Rs 5,000 will be paid through cheque and the candidate has to submit his day’s expenses to the returning officer.
Huge numbers
Fourteen Nagar Palika Parishads and 23 Nagar Parishads, will go to vote. Total 8,51,732 voters of urban areas will elect their representatives, including 4,3,9607 male voters, 4,12,061 female voters and 64 third gender ones.
