Bhopal: Ex- finance minister Jayant Mallaiya, addressing a press conference here on Tuesday, claimed farmers’ loan waiver was declared without preparations by the state government. He claimed the government has not become eligible so far. He claimed the officers had told him that they were surprised by the order and do not know the fate of the order. He alleged loans would not be considered repaid till the bank account of the farmers shows Rs 2 lakh in it.
He asked what will happen in cases where the wife of a government employee was a farmer. It has not yet decided as to what would happen to the farm loan taken by a businessman having land, he claimed. He said condition of state coffer was sound.The state has debt of Rs 1.60 lakh crore, under FRBM Act, said Mallaiya.
He said budget during Congress regime was 21,000 crore which rose to Rs 1.86 crore. He said loans were taken to continue infrastructure-related works. He claimed that government has taken loan of Rs 12,500 crore in this year so far and that there was no overdraft in the state in the last15 years. He claimed, “We had left a budget with surplus revenue for the new government.
