BINA: The government’s decision to shift liquor shops from the highway has become a pain in the neck for the local residents as the liquor shop owners are now opening outlets inside residential colonies. The residents fear that the liquor shops in residential colonies will create innumerable problems for them. This has led to a situation of confrontation between the liquor contractors and the people.

On Tuesday, a group of people, led by MLA Mahesh Rai reached a place where a new liquor shop was being opened and staged a protest. Then came the news of another shop being opened in the Agasaud area, triggering another round of protests.
