Bhopal: In a bid to cater to the likes of bibliophiles, every city has libraries with their own unique features, while one is to the taste of scholars and academicians, there are such world of knowledge which cater to the interests of students and public at large. In the city we have such libraries which not only provide the books but have also become an intellectual hub and center of education for students appearing for competitive examinations.

Central library, located near Bharat talkies is one such library which is also providing coaching to the students who aspire to make it to government jobs. The library has produced civil servants, bankers and other government officials at the price which no other coaching can offer services on.

Established around 1955, the library has such books and other manuscripts which are hardly found anywhere else. Sanchi volumes, books about Delhi darbar and other such books on rulers of India are one of the rarest collections which the library boasts of. The library is established by department of school education.

The library has over five thousand members who also participate in various activities conducted by it. We also organise social work programmes where members cooperate with us. Our members also go to slum areas to teach the underprivileged children, said, Dr Vandana Sharma, regional librarian.

We not only focus on providing bookish knowledge but also ensure personality development of the students who come here for studies.

Now, there is another library which is slightly different from others of its kind, when it comes to its members. The library has readers who want to stay acquainted with global changes for which the library provide such books which are unique and new in the market. We hardly have students as our members and have only scholars, government officials, editors and other such persons who need to remain in touch with the international politics, says the in-charge Laxmi Sharan Mishra.

Now there is another museum of books located near Mata Mandir square, where even he books written two centuries back are also available. This library is called Dushyant Kumar Smarak Pandulipi Sangrahalay.

We have Ravan Sanhita, which was written some 150 years back but we can’t exactly tell as who had written it as it was gifted to us by someone who also did not know about the author, said director of the Sangrahalay Rajurkar Raj. We have such books which we do not provide to everyone for reading but one can have views of it. There are such old books on which research students do their PhD, he added.
