Bhopal: Pitching for Congress candidate Digvijaya Singh, hundreds of sadhus descended on the state capital on Tuesday and began ‘hatha yog’ and other rituals here at New Safia ground Kohe-Fiza. Led by Namdevdas Tyagi alias Computer Baba, the sadhus will camp in city for three days and perform Hatha Yog, Tapp-Yog and other rituals to ensure Singh’s victory in the parliamentary elections to be held here on May 12. The self-styled godman, who was recently appointed chairman of a river trust by the Congress government in the state, extended his support to Digvijaya Singh, the Congress’ Bhopal Lok Sabha seat candidate.
On the day one, the sadhus practised Hatha Yog; the rituals will conclude on Thursday followed by a road show in the city. As the former chief minister Digvijaya Singh – dressed in a white kurta pyjama – accompanied with Amrita Singh arrived at the site, the Computer Baba blessed the couple saying, ‘Dharma Ki Jai Ho, Adharm Ka Nash Ho’. The couple also performed havan at the site. A number of sadhus practicing Hatha Yog at in a semi-circle near the Congress leader.
“The saints prayed to God that the person who is treading on the path of religion, the one who served the river Narmada and saints is Digvijaya Singh, and should win by lakhs of votes, said the Baba when he was asked if the rituals were performed for Singh’s victory. Asked about Pragya Singh Thakur, the BJP candidate, an accused in the Malegaon blast case, he said one cannot become a sadhvi (saint) merely by wearing a robe.
