Bhopal: Khajuraho International Film Festival from December 8

BHOPAL: The seven-day grand ‘Khajuraho International Film Festival’ would be held from December 8 to 14 at Khajuraho.  Launched from last year, the film festival is being jointly organised by directorate of Culture and Prayas Production.

Addressing the media persons at Bharat Bhavan on Wednesday, Principal Secretary Culture, Manoj Shrivastava says, “We are going to organise the second Khajuraho International Film Festival for seven days. Last year, it was of four days. This year the festival is divided into four segments. In the first segments would be based women oriented cinema which is directed/produced and acted by woman only.  The feature film and documentaries, based on tribal background of Bengal, Assam, Odisha, Australia, Austria and New Zealand would we screened in second segment. s

The movies of those directors which could not be released due to any reason would be screened in the fest under segment ‘Director’s first cut’. We would also screen regional movies. We would felicitate noted film maker Bony Kapoor for his contribution in Hindi Cinema,” Shrivastava added.

He further added, “The fest would be opened with Oscar movie ‘Sold’. A solo play of Kanika Arora and Sushmita Mukherjee would be staged on December 11 and 12. Some selected movies of legendary actor Manoj Kumar would also be screened.  A poet meet and Mushaira would be held on December 11 and 12. The short movie and documentary would be screened at five star hotel in Khajuraho. CM Shivraj Singh  Chauhan would inaugurate the fest.”

“As many as 106 films including documentary, feature and short films of 70 countries would be screened. Some well-known film personalities including Manmohan Shetty, Prahlad Kakkar, Anurag Basu, Mukesh Bhatt Gopi Desai, Govind Nihlani , Uma Da Cunha and others would participate in the fest,” said Raja Bundela, actor and founder of Prayas Production.
