Bhopal: Kamal Nath holds Congress working committee’s first meet

Bhopal: ‘I will follow the Congress policy and programme and will bear my responsibility like Congress had done in the pre-independence era. I hereby take an oath to free the state from fear, extortion, anarchy and mafias’- members of the state working committee of Congress took this oath in Bhopal on Wednesday.

State Congress president Kamal Nath took the first meeting of the newly appointed working committee members. Interestingly only Nath delivered the speech and nobody was permitted to put his idea in the meeting. While addressing the meeting, Nath said “We should be ready to face any action that the government undertakes against us.”

He asked the working committee members to face the heat of the government in the election and before the election. He also stated that “This election will be a breathtaking one, so keep you should be ready to contest the election.” The meeting condemned the state of affairs in the state and passed four resolutions: first is related to the farmer’s death, second on the financial condition of the state, third on unemployment of youths and the last one related to women.

The meeting also passed a political proposal in which the committee members extended their thanks to AICC national president Rahul Gandhi for showing their faith on the committee members and entrusting the committee with the task of sounding the election bugle against the BJP.

Talking to media, Nath claimed that the state government had assessed that it is bound lose the local body elections and to save its reputation it had decided to call off the elections. Talking about the newly appointed chief electoral officer V Kanta Rao, he stated that “I hope he will work without favouring anyone.”

He said that the state government is facing financial crisis but the Government of the India is not releasing funds for the state. He said, “Why CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan is not sitting on dharna against the government against the financial crisis. Whereas during the UPA regime, he used to sit on dharna on small issues”.

State media in-charge Manak Agarwal while addressing the media, stated that “Very shortly the first list of Congress candidates will be released”. He added that the AICC members and the president of state election scrutiny committee Madhusadan Mistry will take a two day visit of the state.

On 13th he will conduct the meeting of ex and sitting MLAs and MPs and on 14th he will hold the meeting of the office bearers of the districts. He also discarded any alliance with the political party, he stated that after the election dates are declared, we will contact parties which are contesting election against the BJP.
