Bhopal: The state government too intends to present a populist budget on the lines of the central government. The state government wants to present vote-on-account as interim budget and make several announcements. The assembly session will start from February 18, during which the state government would be presenting the interim budget.
The state government, eyeing Lok Sabha elections, wants to make interim budget attractive. The finance department was so far working for presenting vote-on-account to meet three month’s expenses. After the centre’s interim budget, indications have been given to the finance department to present interim budget too.
The interim budget of the state government would have several announcements, which were promised by the Congress party in its Vachan Patra. Interim budget may include provision related to farm loan waiver, which has been the biggest attraction of Vachan Patra.
Efforts are being made to include major points from Vachan Patra which would make the budget more attractive for people. The interim budget of the Central Government major announcements for farmers, workers and rebate on income tax on income up to Rs 5 lakh. The state government has started working on how these announcements could be countered through its interim budget popular. The main objective is win maximum seats in upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
